The Rebels had 44 wrestlers on the team. Most high schools today, with four classes (Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors) instead of the three back then. would be hard pressed to hve that many on the team. I think I read a wiwrestling.com posting that said that some of the top teams in the State (Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln and Kaukauna) approached the low forties in terms of numbers.
Julio Torres (who placed 5th when the WIAA was one division) got many family involved in wrestling, by convinving my brother Carlos to go out for the sport. Carlos is featured in the Junior Varsity Team Picture.
JV Wrestler Mike Janecky is currently a Dentist in Racine.
